Stars His choir in the heavenly cathedral,
Precipiced mountains and proud pines its buttresses.
Echo by echo the song rings forth
From shaking foundations to silvery treble,
Treading, majestic, the vault from pole to pole,
Each note making hearts quiver and breath catch
Here on the tiled floor of land and sea, forest and plain
Where men stand, stained glass pictures of a greater reality.
Listen, mortal.

ugh.
Wow, you wrote that Crystal???
I'm quite impressed. Why the spheres? Why not squares, or the earth, or life?
*bows to applauding audience* I'm tickled that I actually managed to capture the essence of what I was after in this.
The Music of the Squares, oh dear, that's hilarious! Do you mean, Em, that you're not actually familiar with the old Greek concept of the music of the spheres? I don't mean to sound condescending...go skim the beginning of this if you're not: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_the_spheres
The concept of the stars and planets singing is found all over in literature and myths, and it's always fascinated me. I suppose this poem is my trying to unpack the concept and explain why it sends shivers down my spine when I think about it.
